Master of F/V Plymouth Belle, Anthony Francis Jackett Sr. (1924-2011) was a central figure in Provincetown life, both in career and bloodlines. His wife, Priscilla F. Jacket (b 1945), was honored in 2011 by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers for her work at Outer Cape Health Services, helping people “negotiate the cumbersome red tape between them and their access to critical health care coverage,” as The Banner put it. He purchased this house in 1979, and she joined him on the deed in 1992.

Jackett’s mother, Mary Agnes Mayo, married Antone P. Jaqueta, who had made his way to Provincetown from Figueira da Foz, in the Coimbra district on the Portuguese coastline. He delivered ice for the De Riggs Ice Company, whose owners lived in the house next door from here; landed with the 348th Combat Engineers at Omaha Beach on D-Day; fished with Henry Duarte, Joe Roderick, Fred Salvador, and Louis Salvador (his brother-in-law); captained Plymouth Belle for five years until he was able to purchase the boat in 1960; served as co-chairman of the early Blessings of the Fleet; then, after his retirement from fishing in 1988, worked for the Cape Cod National Seashore, Clem & Ursie’s restaurant, Outer Cape Health Services, and Meals on Wheels.

Among the Jacketts’ offspring are Anthony “Tony” Jackett, Provincetown’s former shellfish constable, and his son, Beau Jackett, director of the town’s Information Technology Department. The metalworking artist Michael Kacergis is Anthony Sr.’s nephew.
