2020 Commercial 055-057 1 Landing

(2009)

West End Boat Launch (Beach access).

The eight Town Landings along Commercial Street are the critical — if underappreciated — connective tissue of Provincetown, the passageways that allow the public to get from land to water and back again as a matter of right, without having to trespass an unbroken barrier of private properties. While the West End Boat Launch is not officially a Town Landing, it has been recognized in the Provincetown Harbor Management Plan as “important for public access to the beach.” The well-used concrete boat launch (with a roughly 7-degree slope) can be seen in the foreground of the thumbnail photo, with Captain Jack’s Wharf in the background.
