Sherman P. Russell was the son of Antone N. Russell and Emma Tarvis Russell (d 1946), whose parents had come from Faial and from Flores in the Azores. His brothers were Anthony Russell and Loring Russell. He was stationed at the Highland Coast Guard Station in Truro during World War II and later in the 1940s, skippered the scalloper Jennie B., which Loring worked on. He married Avis Burden in 1942, and they owned this house until 1990, when it passed to their son Dwight P. Russell. Ben S. and Patricia F. Stone bought it in 2015.
