When Arthur Malchman (b ±1916) was the superintendent of schools, more than 800 students were enrolled at the Veterans Memorial School, the Junior-Senior High School, and Truro Central School. He was unanimously elected by the School Union Board in 1963, and served through the 1976 school year, when the Long Pointer was dedicated to him. He and his wife, Dorothy Malchman (b ±1917), owned this substantial property from 1951 to 1984.
