Atwood 04

(August 2009)

Tucked almost out of sight on tiny Atwood Avenue, this house (c 1800) with its broad front porch welcomed guests in the 1950s as the Blue Shutters Guest House and, in more recent decades, as the Atwood Inn. The building attached to the rear of the house was originally a lobster shack belonging to John Savage at the Helltown fishing settlement, Joseph Del Deo wrote in the Provincetown’s West End volume of the 1977 Massachusetts Historical Commission inventory. The property has been owned since 1997 by Dr. G. Bruce Head III of Gadsden, Ala., and has been undergoing a complete reconstruction.
