There is a substantial waterfront parcel behind 151 Commercial Street. An 1889 insurance map showed a one-story woodworking shop there, but it had disappeared by 1910. The assessor’s office has placed the date of the current structure at 1930. It became a separate tax lot in 1964 when the owners, Capt. Manuel Carvalho Santos Jr. (1910-1986) and Corrine Agatha (Dears) Santos (1912-1996), transferred 151A Commercial Street to their son Robert John Santos (1934-2005). It has since changed hands independent of the house fronting on Commercial. The current owners, who live in Brookline, paid $1,337,500 for the property in 2004, according to town records.
