Carl M. Sawyer Jr. (1957-2009).
There are few graveside tributes as expressive as this one of a toy firefighter climbing a ladder that extends into thin air — toward heaven, if you will. Carl “Mike” Sawyer served in the volunteer Provincetown Fire Department for 29 years before his retirement, assigned to Ladder Company 2. He was a P.H.S. graduate and a veteran of the Coast Guard, too. He loved to cook, play cribbage with his father and go to the beach.
