2020 Commercial 073A Building H

(2009)

Captain Jack’s Wharf Condominium | Orion and Spindrift-Hesperus cabins.

Originally, three separate cabins occupied the large building at the end of the wharf, culminating in Spindrift, where sliding French doors open on to an uninterrupted panorama of Provincetown Harbor — a prospect captured in a two-page “Great Room” spread in New York magazine in 2014. (The photograph shows the living room of Spindrift.) The cabins were both acquired in 1990 by the artist and developer Peter Gee (1932-2005), who was amassing units at Captain Jack’s. Both were auctioned off the next year in a foreclosure sale. Spindrift went to Richard S. Wallgren and Hesperus went to John S. MacDonald and John T. Murray of Milton. They acquired Hesperus from Wallgren in 2002. Four years later, they transferred both units — for the first time on the same lease — to MacDonald alone. He transferred them in 2007 back to Murray, who sold them in 2010 to Mark Moskowitz, who transferred them to C J Condo LLC, of which he is the manager. Moskowitz is the president and chief executive officer of the Argo Corporation, a large real-estate company in New York City. The owner of the Orion unit lives in Dorchester.
