There were at least 18 Mary Souzas living in Provincetown in 1950. The Mary who lived here was Mary A. (Rego) Souza (1891-1963), the widow of Frank Souza (1886-1943), a native of São Miguel in the Azores who arrived in town around 1904. Besides fishing, he also advertised his services in whitewashing, plastering, and painting. Their daughter, Hortense “Orrie” Souza, married Albert Meads in 1939. Douglas B. Hill and George P. Moccia of San Francisco bought the property in 2007.
