Warren E. Costa (1929-2009) and Elizabeth “Betty” (Volton) Costa (1932-2009) were wed on 12 September 1953 — as their headstone in St. Peter’s Cemetery lovingly records with interlocked wedding bands — and purchased this house two years later for $6,500. Warren was a Provincetown native. His parents were William W. and Marie Costa. He graduated from Provincetown High School in 1947 and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Betty, the daughter of Alfred and Isabel (Perry) Volton, was also a P.H.S. graduate, class of 1950, and an alumna of Bridgewater State College (now Bridgewater State University). Together, they ran the Watts Mobil Garage, 137 Bradford Street. The Costas celebrated their 55th anniversary in 2008, then died within weeks of one another in July 2009. The family still owns the house.
