Cynthia Bowly (±1798-1826).
Cynthia Bowly is referred to on this broken tombstone in Lot No. 216 as the “consort” of Asa S. Bowly. What could that possibly mean? Well — she was, indeed, married to Bowly. But in 19th-century usage, a woman described at her grave site as a consort had died before her husband. And indeed, Asa Bowly survived his young wife by 39 years.
